Serious incident with An-26 UR-CEP at Bor airport (Republic of South Sudan).
At 11:17 UTC during cargo flight under the UN WFP Mission by An-26 UR-CEP aircraft of PJSC “Constanta Airlines”, a serious incident occurred at Bor Airport (Republic of South Sudan).
During landing, at the flare phase, the aircraft struck a soil embankment located beyond the outer edge of the drainage ditch, outside the runway strip. As a result of the occurrence, the aircraft made a hard landing on the nose landing gear and subsequently taxied to the parking stand. The nature and extent of the aircraft damage are being determined by the operator’s engineering and technical commission. The flight crew sustained no injuries.
In accordance with paragraph 5.1.2 of Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation and paragraph 4 of the Rules and Procedure for Technical Investigation of Air Accidents and Incidents in Civil Aviation, approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 610 of 20 May 2022, the NTIB has initiated an investigation in coordination with the civil aviation authority of South Sudan, the UN WFP Mission, and the aircraft operator.
